How to Save Money When Booking Flights

A Wandering “Couple” of tips on how to save money when booking flights.

       1.   Use Skyscanner.

If you have never heard of SkyScanner, I have just made your life so much easier, trust me. SkyScanner is a website that allows you to look for the cheapest flights available on the internet and compares the price of airlines, travel dates and even the cities you are travelling too. A cool feature of this website, is that it allows you to search for flights “Everywhere” and it comes up with the cheapest flights available.

You can find some serious bargains on this website. I have seen offers before allowing me to get to countries like France, Switzerland, Ireland and many more for under £20 for a return flight. So have a look around, it may save you a lot of money, especially if you aren’t fussy about where you want to go. It isn’t always the case that you find cheaper deals, as you have to book your hotel/hostel separately, but 9 times out of 10, you will it cheaper to book it this way.

Tip 1: Use SkyScanner.net

      2.   Use hand luggage and avoid paying for baggage.

When flying to all the beautiful places around the world, the normal and obvious thing to do seems to be to pay for luggage, although most of the time it is just not needed. Sometimes on package holidays the luggage may be included, in which case you should use it, but when you pay for luggage you are spending money that you could use towards your next flight!

Our recommendation is, unless it is included, you should leave the cabin luggage all together and just use your FREE hand luggage. You can squeeze quite a lot into your hand luggage, especially if you make sure you are only packing what you really need. Do you need those 6 pairs of swimming shorts? Or can you make do with less? One more thing to note, would be that you can only take your liquids in 100ml bottles, which all have to be clear (you can pick these up in most department stores). If none of this seems possible for you, you can always share a suitcase (if there is more than 1 of you), but just keep in mind that every pound/dollar/euro you save, you can put towards your next getaway!

Tip 2: Only use your FREE hand luggage.
